Ada's on the River: Exquisite Waterfront Dining in Alexandria, VA

I’ve ordered steak at many places, and this New York Strip was by far the best I’ve ever had — definitely the best in the DMV area. The Gem salad was absolutely incredible. The service was top-notch, and the dessert was just as impressive

Ada’s on the River is one of those places that always feels like a treat. The waterfront setting in Old Town Alexandria is beautiful and the space feels polished without being stuffy. It’s the kind of restaurant that works just as well for a special night out as it does for a relaxed dinner with friends. The steak tartare is a must. It’s fresh perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. Rich but balanced and easily one of the best starters on the menu. The Lavender Martini deserves its own moment. Light floral and smooth it’s refreshing without being sweet and pairs surprisingly well with both the appetizers and the mains. A special shoutout to Erlinda, who was a fantastic server. She was kind attentive and genuinely helpful which made the whole experience even better. Between the food the cocktails and the river views Ada’s consistently delivers a standout Alexandria dining experience. This is a place I always recommend and happily return to.

This was our second time eating here for a brunch date, and it was just as wonderful as the first. Here is why we will be back: • Top-Notch Service: We ordered a few appetizers, and one didn't arrive until after our entrees hit the table. Our waitress noticed immediately, apologized, and put in a speedy request to get it out ASAP. • Gracious Hospitality: We honestly didn't mind the delay at all (no biggie!), but when the bill came, they had graciously removed the item from our check. • The Verdict: Great food, classy service, and a perfect spot for a brunch date. Highly recommended!

Visiting from NC and it was a perfect Happy Hour Bite. We started with mini lobster and shredded beef rolls, brussel sprouts, pimento beignet, wood fire Chicken thighs, and a cherry vanilla old fashioned with a Rosè. The food was great. The rolls were buttery with a seasoned sauce. Lemon infused moist chicken thighs and the most delectable brussels. Its was a quick in and out but our service was great. Amber quickly ushered our food over. The resturant was bright and airy with a great view. Definitely will be back for some outside sitting once it's warmer.

Came here for dinner when visiting the area. There is a sitting area outside besides inside. There is also seating where you can watch them cook the food. The service was excellent. The waiter was polite and friendly. The drinks were very good. There was a special spicy margarita that was amazing. The food was excellent. All of it was excellent. The pictures are beef tartar and oysters which are appetizers. The 75 day aged ny strip, 60 day aged ribeye, and cream spinach for entrees. The beignets for dessert are the best. Also had a nice sherry for dessert. I would would definitely recommend and will come back if in the area again

came here on date night and had an amazing experience. the ambiance was incredible and the fact that we were able to watch our food get prepared made it even better. our server sebastian was attentive and suggested great options. i had one of the best bloody marys and espresso martinis here. i will definitely be back when i’m in town again.

Ada’s on River gets 8 out of 5 stars from me! My family and I chose Ada’s to celebrate my dad’s 75th. We had a spacious private room that could seat our whole family comfortably. We had access to the TV to play a slideshow and even our own music. We hired a decorator to customize the space for our celebration. Ada’s staff and management were attentive the whole time and were an absolute pleasure to work with. Now the food?! I replay it in my head like a dream. Every dish was skillfully made and bursting with flavor! Down to the homemade brioche with orange butter! The lobster mac was incredible. The scallops and steak were buttery and made you feel like royalty with each bite. I’m from out of state but I will definitely be back. Couldn’t recommend them more!

Beyond the food, the service truly stood out: attentive, polished, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling intrusive. Ada’s on the River strikes the rare balance of impeccable service and wonderfully prepared food, making it a standout destination for a memorable meal.
